 Job Description

The Sales Associate position at Paws and Claws is a critical position to the store’s overall operations and long term success. Paws and Claws is a Pet Shop and Grooming Spa with its main location in the heart of Georgetown. Our store offers a variety of products for cats, and dogs in addition to full-service pet grooming. We are looking to add a passionate and hardworking member to join our team! 

We are looking for 2 people to work full-time 6 days per week on a shift system. 

The job duties for this position include, but are not limited to:

 

Customer service functions: 

1. Drive sales through engagement of customers, suggestive selling, and sharing product knowledge. 
2. Answer any product related questions or customer inquiries
3. Utilize problem-solving skills when trying to solve difficult situations 
4. Remain knowledgeable on products offered and discuss available options 
5. Help customers to create accounts 
6. Prepare orders to be delivered 
7. Handle returns of merchandise
8. Build productive trust relationships with customers

 

 Operating Point-of-sale (POS) and Booking Software: 

1. Cash, MMG+, debit and credit transactions
2. Redeeming and selling gift certificates
3. Using our booking and customer database system effectively
4. Providing customers with appropriate discounts

 

Opening and closing duties (as required): 

1. Prepare daily transaction and sales reports
2. Count and prepare the cash float
3. Be responsible for opening and closing the store

 

General store maintenance: 

1. Ensure shelves are well-stocked and replenished when necessary
2. Receiving and putting away product when orders are received
3. Office and cash desk areas are kept tidy and organized at all times
4. Light janitorial duties as required

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

1. A minimum qualification of CSEC English and Math (grade 3 or higher) 

2. At least two years of previous work experience in a retail or customer service position 

3. Some understanding of pet care 

4. Past work experience in a pet-related industry will be considered an asset, as well as, experience in a key holding position and any experience in promotional events and fundraising.
