Dog Grooming Apprentice

Job Type: Full-time (No prior grooming experience required)

Job Location: West Central Mall, Leonora, WCD

Salary: $48,000 per month

Duration: Four (4) months

Progression: Upon successful completion in this position, you will have the opportunity to advance to the role of Junior Groomer, followed by Senior Groomer, with corresponding salary increases. 

Paws and Claws is currently seeking a caring and compassionate individual interested in building a career in the grooming industry. No experience or equipment is necessary! Our ideal candidate is passionate about animals and has excellent attention to detail.

 

Paid Training:

Comprehensive training program covering safety protocols, pet bathing, drying techniques, ear cleaning, nail trims, and filing.

Hands-on experience provided, allowing for gradual mastery of each skill.

 

Duties include:

Dog grooming, bathing, and drying.

Cleaning and plucking ears, nail trimming, and filing.

Brushing, combing, and deshedding.

General upkeep of tools and equipment.

Providing exceptional customer service.

 

Requirements:

• Must be patient, caring, and a passionate dog lover with a genuine interest in becoming a professional pet groomer.
• Should demonstrate compassion and patience when working with animals.
• Bring a positive attitude to work and possess excellent customer service skills.
• Prior experience as a bather, grooming assistant, or veterinarian assistant is preferred but not mandatory.
• Stamina to handle bathing, drying, and grooming multiple dogs per day, including lifting larger breeds.
• Willingness to learn grooming skills and accept constructive feedback.
• Maintain a clean and hygienic appearance and work environment for clients.
• Strong work ethic, organizational skills, proactive nature, reliability, and exceptional attention to detail.
• Applicants must be 18 years or older.
